Music

At Birchwood Avenue Primary School, curriculum-based music education is taught to all classes by Mr Pettifer, peripatetic music specialist from the Hertfordshire Music Service. Lessons are 40 minutes per week plus a whole school singing assembly. The school regularly prepare and perform together for events such as Harvest Festival celebrations, Christmas carol concerts, choir recitals and plays.

We offer a wide range of instrumental tuition opportunities through our close links with the Hertfordshire Music Service, which neighbours our school site. If you would like to book, all the information you need is available at http://www.hertsmusicservice.org.uk/registeronline. Hertfordshire Music Service tutors will be teaching face to face or online and every effort has been taken to ensure both tutors and pupils are kept safe in-line with Covid-secure guidance.

In addition, Year 4 learn to play steel drums. They very much enjoy putting on performances of their progress for the community to come along to.
