Welcome to Year 6 (Anning Class). We chose Mary Anning as our influential figure, as we have been studying evolution and inheritance as part of our science work. We felt that Mary Anning's discoveries were of great importance and have impacted our understanding of the world we live in. Coming from humble beginnings, Mary Anning was an English fossil collector, dealer and palaeontologist who became known around the world for finds she made in jurassic marine fossil beds in the cliffs along the English Channel at Lyme Regis in the county of Dorset in Southwest England. Anning's discoveries can still be seen today at the Natural History Museum.
