Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Since coming back at the start of the year, the children have been learning about World War 2. We have been looking at major events from when the war started and when it ended; reading and writing about dictators; remembering The Holocaust and understanding what it was like for children during this period when they were evacuated from their homes in major cities.

Towards the end of this half term, the children will be looking at the life of Anne Frank and the events of D-Day and how this was a major turning point during World War 2.

As part of our Victorian topic, we looked at the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We then had a go at building our own bridges and tested them to the point of destruction !

Our D.T. challenge continued with the children attempting to build their own version of the Eiffel Tower. Some were more stable than others...

Year 6 had a fantastic time learning how to perform a Russian dance.

As part of our World War 2 topic, we visited the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

As part of our World War 2 topic, we attempted to make pictures using powder paints and silhouettes, that captured the images of the Blitz. It was very messy, but the children were very successful.

Year 6 had the opportunity to work with some magistrates to find out about the laws of this country. The morning then concluded with a mock trial based around shoplifting.
